Reiki Hands - The Magic of Healing, Health and Vitality
By: Steve Shuffrey
The art of healing (through Reiki or any other form) is nothing new. Every mother has the instinct to reach out to her crying child and soothe it with her hands, seeking out the discomfort with stroking, holding, touching, loving and closeness.
Many forms of healing have evolved and are presented to people on different levels according to the need of the time. Early systems used herbs, ritual, invocation and retreat to call upon the spirit to become one again with the person needing healing.
Highly intelligent systems were created as an holistic science of body/mind/spirit and put into a practical form by people such as the ancient Indian Rishis (The Vedas), the Essenes (The Dead Sea Scrolls), the Egyptians (Nay Hammadi Texts), Native American Shamans (oral tradition), Early Greeks (mythology), Christians (the Bible), Muslims (the Qur’an); there are also records of the systems of the Knights Templar and the Free Masons. These forms were originally so that the people could practice and learn.
Most holistic healing systems rely on several things:
1. the willingness of the receiver/student to receive
2. the presence of a system of knowledge to reconnect the receiver to the quantum field, or Universal Spirit, that is to say, knowledge of God through practice of the Form
3. the balance of Chi
4. the experience and compassion of the healer to step aside allowing self-empowerment through self-referral, self-knowledge and trust
5. the shift of focus from Self to Source
6. Divine Grace.
The origins of Reiki have been traced back to Buddhist Sanskrit Scriptures. It is believed that the early forms were used by Buddhist monks in a different way from today, as part of their intricate system of prayer, invocation, ritual and surrender needed for life as a monk, most probably limited to self-treatment.
It was a completely Holy focus: a self addressing hands-on system to change the flow of Chi energy in the body to become of a more Divine nature, holding the body and mind still with the hands while the focus remained on the inner coursing of the Chi.
In 1979 a silk book was unearthed in China that dates from as early as 206 BC. It is called Dao Ying Qi Fa - Method of Inducing Free Flow of Chi. It contains 44 drawings of Chi Gong postures, some of which were an essential part of the training in the Shaolin Temple in Henan. It is believed that the Art of Reiki was a form of Chi Gong adapted and incorporated into the way of Buddhist Temple practice.
Reiki is a fascinating practise and therapy based on transmitting energy to the body through the hands. With Reiki hands you can learn how to heal yourself and others through simple yet effective techniques for improving health, wellbeing and vitality.

Transcendental Meditation Helps Me Out, by Andy Rogers
Regular practice of Transcendental Meditation (TM) can treat your stress-related problems such as high blood pressure, improve your mental capabilities and help you improve your relationships. Overall, TM will make you a relaxed, happier and contented person. Let’s see how this happens:
1). Improves intelligence, creativity & memory: Research has shown that the experience of pure consciousness during TM twice a day makes the mind more alert, creative, and intelligent throughout the day.
2). Provides complete rest: TM provides the mind and body with a unique and profound state of restful alertness. The body gains an extraordinarily deep state of rest while the mind settles down to a state of inner calm and wakefulness.
3). Improves health: Since both the mind and the body are rejuvenated, it leads to improved health and provides the basis for a more dynamic, productive, and satisfying life.
Is there any scientific proof of TM’s benefits? Over 500 scientific studies have been conducted on the physiological, psychological, and sociological effects of Mahesh Yogi’s TM programme. These studies have been carried out at 210 different universities and research institutions in more than 30 countries. Results of these studies have appeared in more than 100 journals, including major scientific journals such as Science , the American Journal of Physiology, Scientific American, and the Lancet. The studies have shown that a regular practice of TM is highly beneficial and leads to:Reduced stress: The deep rest that the mind and body get in TM eliminates mental and physical stress and fatigue.
Increased intelligence: The mind returns to its natural state of alertness and thus increases the person’s intelligence level.
Increased creativity: TM meditators become more creative than others because the mind is in a refreshed and relaxed state.
Improved memory: The mind’s state of alertness increases its capacity to memorise things.
Improved health: Incidence of illness and risk of heart disease is reduced significantly among TM meditators.
Reduced high blood pressure: Free from stress and anxiety, they have less chance of suffering from high blood pressure.
Improved relationships: TM meditators spontaneously radiate a purifying and nourishing influence of positivity and harmony, which improves their relationship with others in society.
Increased energy: With better health and mental state, TM practitioners are always full of energy. # Reduced insomnia: Being relieved of stress and anxiety, followers of TM experience a better and healthier sleep pattern.
Reversal of biological ageing: Those practising TM, on an average, are biologically 5 to 12 years younger.
Increased happiness: Meditators have warmer interpersonal relationships, less anxiety, increased self-esteem and self-confidence, increased problem-solving ability and greater creativity, all of which together bring more happiness in their life.
TM has helped many Japanese companies: More than 10,000 business people in Japan have learnt the TM technique. After the TM programme was conducted at Japan’s Sumitomo Heavy Industries, the employees showed a marked difference.
Isn’t it time your company enrolled for a TM programme?
Learn all about meditation techniques and how they can bring the mighty difference in your life with all the benefits you read in the article. Kelly’s site at http://www.guyseye.com/ talks all about it!

A few months ago, I received a phone call from George Rupp.
Rupp is the President and Chief Executive Officer of the International Rescue Committee (IRC). Founded by Albert Einstein, the IRC serves refugees and communities victimized by oppression or violent conflict. When thousands run from natural disasters, war, or repression, the IRC is there, providing food and water, shelter, healthcare, and education.
Every Thanksgiving for the past few years, I’ve been sending Oxford Club members a letter reminding them how incredibly rich our lives are and asking them to remember the IRC, the world’s recognized leader in humanitarian emergencies.
I had never heard of George Rupp, however, until I got that phone call. “I’m just calling to let you know how much you’ve inspired us - our whole organization - with your letter,” he said.
Embarrassed, I mumbled something in response.
“We’re planning to read it to Tom Brokaw and the other directors at the annual board meeting Wednesday. We’d also like to turn it into a national fundraising letter. Would that be all right with you?”
All right? I felt like I’d just been injected with 100 mL of pure dopamine. I love the IRC. I love sharing its mission.
By the time I got off the phone, my wife said I was acting so goofy I might as well take the rest of the day off. When I walked outside, the sky was bluer, the neighbor’s dog was friendlier, and the birds, I was sure, were singing in counterpoint. It was a weird feeling, really, and it left me scratching my head.
But now I’m beginning to understand it. New scientific studies show that we’re actually hardwired to feel good - and live longer - by helping others.
Dr. Stephen Post, a professor of bioethics at Case Western Reserve University’s School of Medicine, says, “The remarkably good news is that, over the past ten years, we have about five hundred serious scientific studies that demonstrate the power of [generosity] to enhance health.”
You’ve always known that giving is its own reward. Now science has discovered a slew of side benefits as well.
Here are just a few key findings:
- Those who start giving in high school usually experience better physical and mental health over the next 50 years.
- Giving reduces mortality later in life too. People who volunteer for two or more organizations have a 44 percent lower likelihood of dying - and that’s after sifting out other significant factors like age, gender, marital status, frequency of exercise, smoking habits, etc.
- Giving generates a sense of inner freedom, serenity, and peace that affects the quality of life.
- Giving reduces adolescent depression and suicide risk.
- Giving helps us forgive ourselves, promoting a sense of well-being and greater self-esteem.
- Giving reduces negative emotions, like spite, rage, and envy, that contribute to stress-induced psychological and physical ailments.
- And Columbia University psychologist Eva Midlarksy has found that through giving we gain a greater sense of meaning in our lives, cope better with our own stress by shifting our focus to others, feel more socially connected, enjoy a greater sense of competence and effectiveness, and are more likely to live an active lifestyle.
Not bad. And there are many ways to give. Money, of course, is how most organizations get things done. But there are effective ways to donate your time, as well:
Volunteer. According to Doug Oman of the University of California at Berkeley, “Volunteering is associated with substantial reductions in mortality.”
Create a Network of Giving. Find others who are isolated or ignored and invite them to join you. Studies show that all of you are likely to benefit.
Become a Mentor. Nothing is more beneficial to the young than connecting with a caring adult who inspires them.
Pass the Torch. As an older adult, you have accumulated a lifetime of wisdom and experience. Recognize your own value - and share it with others.
Biologist David Sloan Wilson says, “We have said since millennia - in fact, this has been a fundamental tenet of religion - that if you do good things, it will reflect back to you, not immediately, not every time, but in general. This is a deeply entrenched notion.”
And now science is confirming it.
Giving is a simple act. Yet studies show that generous behavior may do more to protect and extend your health than vitamin supplements, green tea, fish oil, or an aspirin a day.
Each of us is flawed in a hundred ways. But giving redeems us. It ennobles us. It helps us create a better version of ourselves.
In his book Why Good Things Happen to Good People Dr. Post writes, “You wish to be happy? Loved? Safe? Secure? You want to turn to others in tough times and count on them? You want the warmth of true connection? You’d like to walk into the world each day knowing that this is a place of benevolence and hope? Then I have one answer: Give. Give daily, in small ways, and you will be happier. Give and you will be healthier. Give and you will even live longer.”

The healthcare system in America has reached crisis status. Americans spend more on health care than any other country. According to statistics, costs have risen faster then personal income for over 40 years, and the trend does not look like it will change anytime soon.
Reform is going to be challenging, but it needs to happen, and it needs to happen now, not tomorrow, not ten years from now. As everyone knows, tomorrow never seems to come. So I want to challenge everyone to stop putting their heads in the sand and start taking a long hard look at the healthcare situation as it now stands.
It’s time to ask the hard questions before it is too late. Waiting to begin action on healthcare possibilities will only push one more problem off onto the laps of our children, and that has to stop. As adults, we need to take care of our own messes and start cleaning them up.
What can one do you might ask? We can talk to congress; we can take a stand for our children. We might also start taking some innovative steps towards taking back our power when it comes to our own healthcare. For situations that are not critical in the moment, we might want to look into some alternative techniques like EFT (meridian tapping), to use as our first line of defense. Complementary therapies are beginning to be widely accepted in the new healing high rise of today, even within the medical arena. Quite often they are even proving to be effective in situations where nothing else seems to work. It’s a small step, what the Japinese call Kaizen, and it’s something that each of us can do to take back a bit of our power in an often overpowering and overwhelming maze of turn and return.

EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) is an energy psychology that uses tapping on the meridian points to stimulate flow in the body’s energy field, resulting in the removal of negative emotional blockages that can lead to psycho-physical illness. EFT is like acupuncture only without the needles.
This article uses EFT metaphorically to help tap the healing process into the body. Once the body knows a routine in cell and bone it becomes depth knowledge, something not easily forgotten. When we tap on the meridians, we use a code the body understands; a language it can process. With that in mind let’s open the taps together so the flow can begin.
There are 7 body points to be tapped, as well as 7 taps to be done at each of the points, and finally 7 steps to the process as it is being used here. (The 7 EFT tapping points used for this version are inner eyebrow IE, outer eyebrow OE, under eye UE, under nose UN, indentation between chin and bottom lip CH, collarbone CB, and underarm UA).
Tap Step 1. Identify the individual issue to be worked on, the blockage in your life that you are ready to release. The more specific the item is, the easier it will be to collapse the issue.
Tap Step 2. Give the intensity of the pain/emotion a rating, a numerical value from 1 to 10 where 1 is very low and 10 is the worst it has ever been.
Tap Step 3. Address psychological reversal. Many times our energy polarities get reversed. When this happens EFT will not work. It is like trying to operate with our batteries in backwards. To address this issue, we tap on the karate chop point KC (located at the side of the hand where we would execute a karate chop) and say. “Even though I have this issue (substitute your problem for the issue), I deeply and completely accept myself.” Repeat this statement 3 times while continuing to tap the KC point.
Tap Step 4. Cleanse the windows of your energy system, the blockages that have built up over time around the negative emotion. Do this by tapping approximately 7 times on each of the 7 meridian points (IE, OE UE, UN, CH, CB and UA as described above). While tapping, repeat a small reminder phrase about the issue being addressed such as “this stress.”
Tap Step 5. Reevaluate the intensity of your issue from 1 to 10.
Tap Step 6. If your blockage has not collapsed to 0 or 1, return to step 4 and repeat the process.
Tap step 7. If it has collapsed, always remember to celebrate victory.
When an issue collapses while using EFT, it often collapses for good. There have been many one minute wonders reported by EFT users. Other times clearing the blockage takes time and stick to it tapping. This later scenario is usually the result of numerous entangled aspects, some of which only surface after the original detail has been cleared. Our lives are so entangled from the process of living that there are often layers and layers to an issue that need to be peeled off one at a time until, like dominoes, the entire structure comes toppling down. Other times, only the major aspect needs to be removed to achieve the desired results.
With this in mind, I invite you to dive right in, grab an issue and start tapping. You will be glad you did.

Starting something new is always awkward at first. Many of you know this from the New Year Resolutions you set earlier this year. Your initial steps are tentative, hesitant and unsure. You intended to develop a new eating or exercise program yet when you got right down to it, nothing felt easy or natural.
Just like a toddler first attempting to stand, you have no balance, rhythm or flow when entering a new regime. This toddler has what it takes — focus and tenacity. He doesn’t know that he might fail. He will stand no matter how many attempts it takes. Once he masters the art of standing, his balance, rhythm and flow come naturally. Watch out; he’s off and running.
How are we so different when learning a new behavior? Unlike the toddler who hasn’t yet learned the art of personal sabotage, we set unrealistic expectations, are impatient, and readily criticize ourselves. We block our focus with excuses and procrastination.
Enter the MacDonald’s mentality. We want results now. If they are not fast enough, we give up. We don’t allow the natural rhythm of this new endeavor to occur. Instead, we move onto something more easily accessible, albeit self-defeating, like a cheeseburger.
All living things need rhythm. What would it be like to sit by an ocean without the soothing rhythm of the waves? What would the words of a song mean without the flow of music? How would our interpretation of these very same lyrics shift with a variety of rhythms?
We humans need sadness to appreciate joy, illness to value health, loss to appreciate abundance. We need day and night to balance one another out, seasons of the year along with seasons of our lives.
Rhythm is the gift. Side benefits are balance and flow. When we are in rhythm and flow, our balance naturally follows, time flies by, productivity increases along with joy and fulfillment. When we are not in rhythm, it’s an uphill battle.
This week, take time to discover which areas of your life are balanced. Areas that are not have likely lost their rhythm and flow. For example, awakening early one day each week to write or exercise creates no rhythm. Getting up early five days in a row for eight straight weeks creates rhythm, resulting in the balance and flow you’re after.
Have a little fun with this concept, have patience with yourself, and enjoy your discoveries.

The definition of insanity is repeating the same behavior over and over, expecting different results. Instead of engaging in the same-old pattern of reaching for solutions based on low calories, low fat food, or low carb diets that seem to fail more often then not, perhaps it’s time to try something different. Here are some easy and unusual weight loss diet tips that work with the body rather then against it. They can easily be followed anywhere, everyday:
Steps to Take
1. Remember the body is your friend. Your body can become a respected ally if you make your weight-loss practice a dance of partnership rather then a battle of wills.
2. Eat more not less. Small meals are best. Spread them pout throughout the day. Skipping meals triggers the body into slowing down the metabolism in an attempt to conserve calories during periods when fats and fuel are less available. Remember, eating increases metabolism which in turn will help burn fat.
3. Surprise the body, keep it honed and on its toes by calorie shifting, varying your food, calories and eating patterns. Security and sameness tends to make the body run on autopilot, forcing it to reach for the same old fat burning habits with which it is most familiar.
4. Use food not pills to lose weight. Make friends with food. It is not your enemy. Hormones are an important clue here. Using proper food, in the correct pattern, triggers the release of fat burning hormones in the brain. The older you get the more everything seems to slow down, so it is important to nurture eating habits that will kick the fat burning hormones into high gear to burn more calories than are consumed.
5. Have fun, keep moving, and shake things up. Vibration, movement and change are in, same-old patterns and eating routines are out.
6. The past does not equal the future. By applying a new technique that is easy and supportive you can step beyond old belief structures and make room for newer ones that are more aligned with a perfect weight and quality lifestyle.
7. Find an easy practice you can follow and stick with it. This weight loss plan will become a framework of support that will hold your vision while it also educates you about the skills needed to keep on track.
As with every diet, exercise and healthy eating patterns are recommended but we can all use a little boost to trigger fat weight loss. If you’ve tried every diet, read every book, and exercised like crazy, but still can’t lose the desired weight, try something different. FatLoss4Idiots might just contain the clues you’ve been looking for to step out of the insane repetition of those age-old patterns.

The development and use of energy work is believed to have been discovered approximately 5,000 years ago when the Chinese discovered a subtle energy system that ran through the body, communicating information. This energy system is referred to as many things including chi, prana, ki, life force and life energy.
The consequent development of acupuncture was based on stimulating various meridian points that lay in specific locations on the meridian or energy lines to treat a wide range of conditions, bringing relief from pain and suffering.
Similarly, Emotional Freedom Technique, or EFT for short, is based on a breakthrough in therapy which is providing relief from pain, diseases and emotional issues for tens of thousands of people around the globe. Simply put, EFT is an emotional version of acupuncture without the needles, and it is performing miracles worldwide.
EFT was modelled in 1995 by Gary Craig from the original form of energy therapy, Thought Field Therapy (TFT) which had been founded 10 years earlier. Whilst there is a basic remedy that is widely taught and used, variations on the original process have been emerging over the years and are considered just as effective as the full process depending on the situation.
The basic EFT remedy consists of tapping a number of meridian points on the face, body and hands a certain number of times and in a certain sequence, and includes a brain balancer and eye roll procedure as well. Now many people are modifying the procedure by leaving out the extra brain balancer and eye roll sequence and just tapping on the various points.
Many are also tapping randomly and for varying lengths of time on the numerous points, and achieving equivalent results.
It is suggested that for deep emotional issues, or if results are not being obtained with the more relaxed versions of the therapy, that the person revert back to using the complete procedure to ensure they obtain the results they desire.
There are 2 doctors in Australia, Dr Steve Wells and Dr David Lake, who are teaching continual tapping which involves conventional talk therapy whilst just continually tapping on the various points at random. These doctors are also achieving surprising results promoting tapping on the points of the fingers daily in times of anxiety and high stress and even whilst not focusing on any issue in particular.
This practice of tapping on the points of the fingers whilst not concentrating on any particular issue can have the affect of treating various issues without even realising you are doing so. It is extraordinary the number of people who report noticing that a particular negative emotion or behavioural pattern just isn’t there any more when they have been absently tapping on their fingers over a short period of time. It can also have the effect of bringing emotions to the surface that need to be dealt with that would otherwise have remained in the subconscious and perpetuated sabotaging beliefs and behaviours.
Dr Lake and Dr Wells have also integrated the very powerful, and highly controversial, Provocative Therapy with the continual tapping to produce amazing results. It is important to note that Provocative Energy Therapy, PET, is not as simple as EFT and some very specific guidelines must be followed as this kind of therapy could prove quite traumatic if conducted by somebody unfamiliar with the subtleties of this revolutionary technique.
Ultimately it is up to the individual to experiment with the different variations of EFT that are emerging and decide for themselves which one they find works best for them.
The most important thing is that tapping is one of the most effective and efficient forms of therapy ever discovered that has the ability to treat living creatures (animals as well) holistically, by treating them on all levels: physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually.
EFT has accelerated a healing revolution that could be instrumental in saving human kind from themselves!

Acupuncture is a form of natural healing that has been around for over 5,000 years and not only practiced in China but also by the Egyptians, Eskimos, Arabs, and Brazilians. The aim of acupuncture is to balance Qi in the body, which is the energy force, or the vital energy in the body and to eventually release chi (the negative energy) in the person if there is an accumulation of it. Acupuncture looks at the body as a whole as opposed to individual parts and believes that if all parts are in harmony then this will contribute to a healthier person overall.
Acupuncture is a form of complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) and like most forms of alternative medicine, individuals look to it when they feel that traditional medicine is not doing enough to help them or else they are looking for a form of treatment that can complement the Western medicine and/or treatments they are presently receiving.
When doing research on branches of alternative medicine a person definitely wants to know right away if a particular type of natural healing methods can do just that- heal. Let’s take a look at whether acupuncture can actual heal or not.
In order to discover whether acupuncture will help your particular medical condition, you must speak with a qualified practitioner of acupuncture. He or she will want to know your extensive medical history including any allergies you have and what illnesses and injuries you have suffered in the past. Only after learning your history can a potential form of treatment be decided upon.
As a general rule if the traditional Western medicine and/or treatment are not proving to be as successful as a person hoped it would be then it is time to consider an alternative route such as acupuncture. Also, if you are paying for expensive medications and you are going broke then acupuncture might be a worthwhile option to consider for your medical needs.
Another time when acupuncture is often desirable is if a person is bravely suffering a number of side effects due to the form of treatment they are presently taking. There tend to be very few side effects to acupuncture if a qualified professional does it.
There are many health conditions that can be helped with acupuncture treatments. Some examples of the respiratory diseases that acupuncture can help include acute sinusitis, acute rhinitis, acute tonsillitis and the common cold. Acute bronchitis and bronchial asthma are both bronchopulmonary diseases that acupuncture has been shown to have excellent results in helping. The eye disorders acupuncture helps include acute conjunctivitis, cataract that has no complications, myopia, and central retinitis.
The mouth cavity disorders acupuncture helps include toothaches, gingivitis, pharyngitis, and pain or discomfort that sometimes takes place after a tooth is extracted. The orthopedic disorders acupuncture helps include periarthritis humeroscapularis, tennis elbow, lower back pain, rheumatoid arthritis and sciatica.
Finally, acupuncture also improves gastrointestinal disorders as well as neurological disorders. The gastrointestinal disorders it helps include hiccups, gastroptosis, spasms that take place in the cardia and the esophagus, gastric hyperacidity, acute and chronic gastritis, chronic duodenal ulcer, acute bacterial dysentery, acute as well as chronic colitis, constipation, diarrhea, and paralytic ileus.
The neurologic disorders it helps include headaches and migraines in particular, facial paralysis, trigeminal neuralgia, peripheral neuropathy, meniere’s syndrome, intercostals neuralgia, nocturnal enuresis, paralysis after an apoplectic fit, neurogenic bladder dysfunction, and paralysis that is caused by poliomyelitis.
Acunpuncture has become a viable and acceptible alternative to traditional treatments.

Personally, I have had extensive experience with EFT over the past 2 years. From the moment I learnt the technique I was amazed by the results and began to embrace it as I could see the possibilities with EFT were literally endless. Consequently my life has been getting better and better over the last couple of years, and recently the results have increased several fold by making some adjustments to how I use the technique.
At first, I used it spasmodically, when I remembered. It wasn’t long before I was using it on a regular basis when I was feeling overwhelmed by emotion. I participated in workshops to learn more about the technique and continued to be amazed at its versatility and effectiveness. How could something so simple be so powerful? It seemed too good to be true.
I learnt about different variations of EFT and how they could be applied and experimented with various things.
I did get frustrated after a while. I kept tapping on deep issues, which at the time were reduced to a zero on the ‘SUDS’ scale (rates the level of intensity of a feeling or emotion). Then, days, weeks, or even months later, these issues would come back again as there was another aspect to them that I had not previously realised. With some issues this would happen repeatedly and I wondered if I would ever get rid of them.
I started to work with a practitioner who was extremely gifted at uncovering issues I had no idea existed and I made great progress at healing my pain. This was pain I had buried for years and had no idea I was avoiding, or how it was ruling my life and relationships.
It wasn’t until recently that I starting using EFT in a way that I have found to be the most effective for me.
During each day there are various moments that I react to with irritation, sadness, frustration, anger, etc. These reactions seemed to me, and probably most people, to be entirely reasonable. Most of our lives we spend being reactive to situations and events and, because we all do it, we generally believe this is normal and acceptable. But what if we responded to situations after considering all possibilities rather than reacting? What if moments and events didn’t push our buttons and cause us to react when consumed with emotion? What if our responses were considered and conciliatory, leading to a satisfactory resolution for everybody involved instead of inflaming a situation?
A few weeks ago, I had just arrived at a clients house. Her place was a reasonable drive from mine, about 20 minutes, and as I pulled up, my husband called. His battery had totally died in his car and, as he was a driving instructor, this was an issue that had to be resolved as quickly as possible. The only reasonable way to do this was for me to drive down to pick him up, get a new battery, etc. He just happened to be about 20 minutes in the opposite direction to our house, so he was about 40 minutes away from where I was currently. This meant I had to drive all the way to him, help him out, and then get back to my client.
I was angry. Actually, that’s an understatement. I was absolutely furious. And as I drove, I began to look at my level of anger and resentment. It wasn’t my husbands fault the car had died. And it was an unfortunate coincidence that I had been so far away when it had happened. Why was I so angry? It really didn’t make sense. So I started continual tapping (tapping meridian points randomly for varying lengths of time) and just allowing my underlying emotions to surface. I was particularly mindful not to suppress any of my emotions.
(It’s important to note here that I recently read some material that said there is bliss in every emotion when it is felt fully. This seemed strange at first, but I have since exercised this and found it to be true. Mostly we filter and suppress negative emotions such as anger, grief, frustration, sadness, etc, because we are conditioned to believe that that is the only appropriate way to respond. However, when you allow yourself to feel an emotion fully within you at a given moment, it flows through you unimpeded and actually disappears relatively quickly, depending on the depth of emotion. When we suppress these emotions, they gradually build until they overflow causing us an enormous amount of pain which becomes overwhelming anger, depression, sadness and this ends up defining our relationships and ruling our lives.)
Now, as I tapped, instead of the anger going, it became absolute rage! I did not understand where it was coming from. It wasn’t this situation that had made me this angry. This was obviously emotions that I had buried for a very long time. All the way to my husband I tapped and yelled and tapped. And yet, I also felt a strange sense of calm as I released the anger. I presume that was the tapping. I made sure I was calm and pleasant as I helped my husband and then on the long drive back to my client I tapped again. More rage and then lots of tears.
I stopped short of my clients’ house and tapped for about another 10 minutes until I was sure I had released all of the anger, and resulting sadness, that had been buried deep within me for many years, maybe even lifetimes! I could not think of an event in my life that would have made me so angry, but just allowing it and tapping at the same time allowed me to release it.
I have been a chronic teeth grinder for many years which was really beginning to cause me problems. I have not been grinding for the last few weeks and I feel a sense of calm that I do not remember previously experiencing.
What I learned from this is that when I am triggered by a particular circumstance, instead of justifying my reaction and allowing it to inflame a situation, I take time to tap and find out what the real issue or emotion is, allowing myself to feel associated emotions fully until it is completely released. This has transformed my life and is having an incredibly positive affect, not only on me, but my relationships.
I am releasing destructive emotions more regularly and effectively than before. I am calmer and tend to consider events more often and respond rather than reacting in a way that can exacerbate a situation that could be defused relatively easily when approached with consideration for everybody involved.
I have found this approach to EFT to be the most effective of all in my life and I encourage you to try this too. Imagine if all the anger in our hearts was diffused forever? What a different world it would be!
